Frequently asked questions.

🔵What is a damp survey — and how is it different from a “free” survey?

Short answer:
A damp survey is a paid diagnosis, not a sales visit.

Why that matters:
“Free” surveys are usually designed to sell treatments.
My survey is about understanding the cause, so you don’t waste money fixing the wrong thing.

🔵 I can already see mould or damp — do I still need a survey?

Usually, yes.

Mould and damp marks are symptoms, not causes.
Without identifying why moisture is there (condensation, cold bridging, ventilation, water ingress), the problem often comes back.

👉 A survey tells you what’s driving it, not just what you’re seeing.

🔵 What types of problems do you assess?

I commonly assess:

• Condensation & mould
• Cold bridging & thermal weak spots
• Penetrating damp
• Suspected rising damp
• Ventilation & airflow issues
• Insulation-related moisture problems

No assumptions. No one-size-fits-all answers.

🔵 Do you sell damp treatments or repair work?

No — and that’s deliberate.

I don’t sell:
• Damp proofing systems
• Chemical treatments
• Repair work

That means my advice is independent and unbiased.
If work is needed, I explain what and why — you decide who does it.

🔵 Are you PCA

 registered or a certificated surveyor?

No — and I’m upfront about that.

My service is aimed at homeowners who want:
• Honest diagnosis
• Practical guidance
• A second opinion before spending money

If your situation needs a lender-grade or insurance-backed report, I’ll tell you straight away.

🔵 How much does a damp survey cost?

My surveys are offered at a clear, affordable fixed fee.

• No hidden extras
• No pressure
• Cost agreed before the visit

You’re paying for clarity, not certification or sales.

🔵 What do I get after the survey?

You’ll leave with:

✔ A clear explanation of what’s happening
✔ The most likely causes
✔ Practical advice on how to fix it
✔ Guidance on what work is necessary — and what isn’t

Everything explained in plain English.

🔵 Can a survey really save me money?

Very often, yes.

Many homeowners spend hundreds or thousands on unnecessary treatments based on poor diagnoses.

Starting with an independent survey helps you:
• Avoid the wrong fix
• Spend money once
• Fix the real problem

🔵 Which areas do you cover?

I’m based in Stourport-on-Severn and typically cover a 25-mile radius.

Not sure if you’re included?
Just ask.

🔵 How do I book a survey or ask a question first?

You can:
• Message via the contact page
• Request a call-back

If you’re unsure whether a survey is right for you, I’m happy to talk it through first.
